What is Takaful?

Takaful is one of the instruments based on cooperation to provide Takaful protection/benefits in the event of a calamity. It is based on the principle of cooperation and mutual help. Takaful helps individuals and businesses manage risks by providing financial support when unexpected events occur such as in the case of accidents, death, illness, property damage, or other unforeseen events subject to the terms and conditions of each takaful provider.

At Bank Muamalat, we are dedicated to ensuring the financial security and peace of mind of our valued customers. As part of our commitment, we offer Group Credit Family Takaful (GCFT) and Mortgage Reducing Term Takaful (MRTT) coverage through a panel of takaful providers to protect your financing accounts in the event of death or total permanent disability (TPD).

 

How to submit a Takaful Claim?

Submitting a takaful claim is straightforward. Follow these steps to ensure a smooth and efficient process:

  • Notify the Bank: As soon as a covered event occurs (such as an accident or loss), contact our Customer Care line at 03-2600 5500 or visit your nearest Bank Muamalat branch to inform us of the claim.
  • Prepare the Required Documents: Heirs/Customers are required to submit the original certified copy of the document as follows:
    Death Claims Total Permanent Disability Claims
    • Certified True Copy of Claimant’s NRIC
    • Certified True Copy of Deceased’s NRIC
    • Certified True Copy of Death Certificate
    • Proof of relationship between Deceased and Claimant
    • Post-mortem Report (accident case)
    • Certified True Copy of Police report (accident case)
    • Medical report (if applicable)
    • Certified True Copy of Claimant’s NRIC
    • TPD Claimant Form duly completed by claimant
    • TPD Claim Doctor Statement (six months after occurrence of TPD) duly completed by attending Doctor
    • Medical report (when first diagnosed with TPD)
    • Medical Report from SOCSO (Keputusan Jemaah Doktor PERKESO)/ Labs Investigation Report (if applicable)
    • Termination / Resignation Letter from Employer (if applicable)
    • Certified True Copy of Police report (accident case)

     

  • Complete the Claim Form: Fill out the claim form clearly, accurately and completely. Ensure all required information is provided and all documents are attached before submitting.
  • Submit the Documents: Submit the completed claim form(s) along with the supporting documents to our nearest Bank Muamalat Branch for further checking and verification.
  • Assessment: The Takaful Operator will assess your claim upon the completed claim form along with the required documents is receive. They may conduct investigations or request additional information if needed.
  • Decision and Payment: Once the claim is validated and approved, the Takaful Operator will determine the amount payable under the terms of your Takaful policy. Claim payment shall be credited into Bank Muamalat in order to settle or reduce the outstanding balance of financing account.
  • Credit Excess (if applicable): If there is any credit excess, Bank Muamalat will hand over the excess amount to the customer’s deposit account or legal heir or Administrator who has been appointed by the Local Authorities.
